A State Of Heart

An original work by Russell Fox, a set of compositions for Christian meditation, presentations, stage accompaniment or just to listen to.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”,
The Bible, 1 Corinthians 13, verse 13.
. . . The inspiration for this set of compositions which progressed to a series that reflected – not emotions – but key building blocks that our ‘heart’ requires to grow as God intended.

Faith – believing in what we have heard to be true and putting into action. To build a firm foundation of faith gives us something to live on.
Hope – A life without hope leads to nothing. A hope in our Lord and Saviour brings life abundantly.
Love – “. . . But the greatest of these is love”. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians chapter 13. A perfect love that comes only from God. “Love one another, as I have loved you” John chapter 13 verse 34. The absolute way to immerse our hearts. God is Love.
Grace – We are all human and we have all fallen into sin – a separation from God. It is only by Gods’ grace – an Amazing Grace – that God accepts us, not by works and deeds, but by His grace, in that we should believe in Him.
Peace – A perfect peace in the Lord Jesus. In the Lord we need not fear, away with anxiety, away with stress. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” John 14 verse 27.
Rejoice – Give thanks to the Lord for all the good that he has done for us. For He is the one who shares with us His victory and life everlasting.
Truth – Firstly, we have to accept the truth. Gods’ Word in the bible is absolutely how it is and when we accept it faith, hope, love, grace and peace all fall in place. Secondly, we should remember to only tell the truth. Not telling the truth only causes us to stumble.
Prayer – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (requests). Bring everything to the Lord in prayer. Let the Lord know everything that is on your heart – and listen at the same time too, for the Living God answers prayer.

The compositions comprise synthesized sounds, strings, bass, percussion and tuned percussion. ‘Faith’ includes the piano and marimba. ‘Grace’ includes the marimba. ‘Peace’ features the flute and piano. ‘Rejoice’ includes kalimba and glockenspiel. Truth includes the marimba. Prayer features the harp.

Tech Note: Percussive sounds are generally high-pitched metallic sounds for cymbals and low-pitched bass sounds for drums and wooden percussion. Whilst many of the songs use tuned instruments to fill the range of frequencies and mastering has been achieved to present optimum levels, with many rich bass sounds, the listener may prefer to use earphones or a system with base tones accentuated to improve the quality compared to that direct from a computer or telephone.
