R.FOX

An original work by Russell Fox, a set of compositions for Christian meditation, presentations, stage accompaniment or just to listen to.  Portraying in sound, some of the great stories read in the Bible, some of the great believers and some just providing an orchestral atmosphere. . . The orchestral album, all with a percussive influence, a mix of classical and modern styles.

  1. Miracles – What would it have been like to witness a miracle by our Saviour almost 2000 years ago. An inspirational piece of music with a mixture of strings and percussion.
  2. Acts Of The Apostles – A real-life adventure, the Apostles, just having witnessed the Messiah, setting out to spread the Gospel and making their way through the challenges of life with the help of the Holy Spirit. An instrumental piece with tuned percussion and strings.
  3. Jericho – At a time in history, Joshua led led the people to march around the city seven times and on the seventh day, sounded the trumpets. An orchestral piece.
  4. Pauls’ letters – The sound of papers rustling and compiling for sending. A simplified piece on viola, drums, piano and marimba.
  5. The Psalmist – A piece of music to recognise the Psalmist, or rather the group of composers that contributed to the book. This piece recognises a variety of styles in a similar way. An orchestral piece with flute and marimba leads.
  6. Judges – When the world was left to itself, about three and a half thousand years ago, God raised up judges to lead the people in the direction of righteousness. There were twelve in all. This orchestral piece reflects the characteristics of those judges in twelve distinct phrases – following an introduction.
  7. Jonah in the Whale – A piece of music depicting the story of Jonah who would rather not witness for the Lord at Nineveh City. Escaping on a boat, a storm blew up and Jonah was found to be the one on the wrong course. Jonah was thrown into the sea whereby caught up by a whale – a large-mouthed fish. After realising his error and seeking forgiveness, was spewed out back onto land again to proceed to witness for the Lord. This is an orchestral piece setting the scene.
  8. Elisha At Mount Carmel – At a time when many of the people followed false gods, The Lord appointed Elisha to show the people who the true God is. A challenge was made to identify the true God. The people would build altars and if their god existed, that ‘god’ would light the altar. Nothing happened to the altar of the people who followed false ‘gods’ but the true God lit the altar that Elisha built even when God instructed Elisha to pour water on the altar. This is an orchestral piece, presenting the scene, a climb up the mountain, failed attempts, pouring water onto the altar at the instruction of God and the joy of the altar being acknowledged and recognised by God.
  9. Jobs’ Quest – Job, a man who lost everything but kept his faith in God. A woodwind quartet with backing strings, Job – represented by the flute – in discussion with his three friends – represented by the clarinet, oboe and bassoon.
  10. Ruth – Ruth, compassion and understanding, trust and faith in the Lord. Played on marimba with orchestral accompaniment. . . The story of Ruth as written in the eighth book of the Christian Bible.
  11. On The Way Through The Wilderness – Sometimes life seems like a long walk through the wilderness, sometimes by ourselves, sometimes entire nations. The Living God helps us get through those times. A meditational piece of music with strings, marimba, flutes, kalimba and bass drum.
  12. The Promised Land – To reach the Promised Land, the end of a time without, a sense of relief, joy and excitement to settle in a place set aside. For the Israelites, a nation who have known this twice in their history. This is an orchestral piece conveying the excitement of a new era.

All Praise To The Lord

Tech Note: Percussive sounds are generally high-pitched metallic sounds for cymbals and low-pitched bass sounds for drums and wooden percussion. Whilst many of the songs use tuned instruments to fill the range of frequencies and mastering has been achieved to present optimum levels, with many rich bass sounds, the listener may prefer to use earphones or a system with base tones accentuated to improve the quality compared to that direct from a computer or telephone.

The album, A Second Biblical Dozen includes the track ‘Ruth’ previously featured on this website as a single – Ruth
